Give Me No Doubt. MS/2019/07

Published By

“Give me no doubt by your judgement”, a bedridden old man emphasized to one of his sons. For you consider the words and actions of the terminally sick with a healthy mind. I still believe strongly in myself, even though I lie on the sick bed with fuddled mind and greatly dependent on the caregiver.

Never take me as a weakling by your overbearing attitude. For you look with sympathy on the fickleness of my sick body from the abundance of your body energy and its reserve. Yet I know that I have more energy at your age and state. So give me no doubt, for I still believe in the little that is left of my energy.

Do not see me as a burden just because you are on your two feet, strong and resourceful. Remember that in my youthful age, I garnered unimaginable material and human resources, of which you are one of them.

Do not, in selfishness, desire to quicken my death. The flow of time is universal. Hence, you cannot make it faster for one and slower for another. My quickened death draws your own old age and death faster than you can ever imagine. So give me no doubt over the little time that is left for me to live.

Never usurp what belongs to me when I close my eyes in death. For there is an ever seeing eyes that neither sleep nor die. The unfair advantage you take on the deceased today will come back to you at your own death.

Therefore give me no doubt with your expressions of disinterest. Instead, bid me lovely farewell with true smiles if I still see, with encouraging words if I still hear, and with loving presence if I still feel. And when I have lost all senses in an unconscious state, show me that genuine love which outlasts all material things and human consciousness. This love according to St Paul is the greatest of the three things that last. (1Cor.13:13).
